Authorization REQUEST: The City Manager requesting the City Commission to adopt Resolutions 2004- 56 and 2004-57 expressing appreciation to the Seminole County Commission and Seminole County Arts Council for their financial support of the Holiday Concert in the Park. PURPOSE: This agenda is needed to express the Mayor and Commission's appreciation for financial participation in the concert event. CONSIDERATIONS: On November 20, 2004 the First Annual Holiday Concert in the Park was performed. The event was an overwhelming success. FUNDING: The Seminole County Commission and Seminole County Arts Council provided grants to help fund the event as follows: Seminole County Commission Seminole County Arts Council Total $5,000 $ LOOO $6,000 121304_ COMM _Add_On _ Consent_ 21 I_Appreciation _Resolutions RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Commission adopt Resolutions 2004-56 and 2004-57. Resolution 2004-57 COMMISSION ACTION: "'- , RESOLUTION NUMBER 2004-56 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS EXPRESSING THE CITY COMMISSION'S APPRECIATION TO THE SEMINOLE COUNTY COMMISSION FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF THE WINTER SPRINGS HOLIDAY CONCERT IN THE PARK. WHEREAS, the City of Winter Springs desired to have a "Holiday Concert in the Park" to initiate a new community tradition for the celebration of the winter holidays, and WHEREAS, the Seminole. County Commission provided the City of Winter Springs with a $5,000 Grant making it possible for the City to contract with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra to provide the music, and nightly broadcasting of the Concert to all the residents of Seminole County over SGTV, and WHEREAS, family oriented civic events serve to bring our residents together, and to enhance our sense of community, and WHEREAS, the performing arts emiches our lives, while broadening our appreciation for the potential of human creativity, and WHEREAS, the Concert was an overwhelming success attended by more that 3,000 residents of Winter Springs and Seminole County, and enjoyed by thousands of residents in their homes throughout Seminole County over SGTV. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE MAYOR AND COMMISSION OF WINTER SPRINGS EXTEND THEIR SINCERE APPRECIATION TO THE SEMINOLE COUNTY COMMISSION FOR THE COMMISSION'S SUPPORT OF THE PERFORMING ARTS, CIVIC EVENTS, AND THE CELEBRATION OF THE WINTER HOLIDAYS.
