REQUEST: Public Works Department Requesting Approval of the Disposal of Surplus
Items by Auction from the Public Works, Utility, Fire, Finance and Parks and
Recreation Departments.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Board item is to request Commission Approval to Dispose at
Public Auction the attached list of items from the Public Works, Utility, Fire, Finance
and Parks and Recreation Departments.
CONSIDERA TIONS:
The City annually inventories and assesses the condition of the physical assets of the
City. Certain items are no longer used, have exceeded their useful life or cost prohibitive to
repair. However, some of these items do have a remaining value that can be recovered at
public auction. The attached list of items has been deemed surplus by the responsible
Department and approved for auction by the City Manager.
The City currently uses a professional auctioneer, George Gideon Auctioneers, who is
also the auctioneer for multiple municipalities and public entities. The auctions are performed
monthly.
FUNDING:
No funding is required. Revenues from the sale of these assets will be
allocated to the General Fund or Utility Enterprise Fund as appropriate.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission Approval of the Disposal of
Surplus Items by Auction from the Public Works, Utility, Fire, Finance and Parks and
Recreation Departments.
IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE:
The assets will be auctioned at the June 21 st auction at George Gideon Auctioneers in
Apopka.
