R.ti- /Dept. REQUEST: City Manager requesting the Commission to consider a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $2,470 to fund raising the brick fence between Stone Gable and Villagio from six (6) feet to eight (8) feet. PURPOSE: This agenda item is needed to determine if the Commission desires to participate in a three party agreement to improve the buffer between Stone Gable and Villagio by increasing the height of the fence from six (6) feet to eight (8) feet. CONSIDERATIONS: In response to a call from Stone Gable residents the Public Works Director and I visited Stone Gable to view the cunent buffet offered by the proposed six (6) foot wall. Now that construction has progressed it is easy to determine the amount of buffer that will be provided by the six (6) foot wall. The residents are particularly concerned about the amount of vehicle lights that will be shining into the rear of their homes and have requested that the developer increase the height of the fence to a height of eight (8) feet. The developer is unwilling to pay the total amount of $7,410 to raise the fence. The cost to the city to install additional plant material in the buffer to provide immediate additional buffering would approach or exceed the cost of raising the fence. Villagio and the Stone Gable Homeowner's Association have agreed to pay Y3 ($2,470) of the cost if the city would contribute Y3 of the cost as follows: 01 2604_COMM_Regular_500_ Villagio_ Wall_Height Residents Developer City Total $2,470 $2,470 $2.470 $7,410 FUNDING: Funding from this project would come from General Fund Reserves. RECOMMENDATIONS: It is recommended that the Commission consider a cost sharing arrangement to raise the buffer fence between Stone Gable and Villagio from six (6) feet to eight (8) feet to better buffer vehicle lighting from Villagio's, and approve a $2,470 supplemental appropriation from the General Fund to fund the city's share.
