HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003 08 11 Consent C Unanticipated Fuel Cost Increase COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM C CONSENT INFORMATIONAL PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR x August.!!, 2003 Meeting MGR Authorization REQUEST: The Finance Department is Requesting a Supplemental Appropriation of $39,400 from the Following Fund Fund Balances for Unanticipated Fuel Costs: General Fund ($25,000), Medical Transport Fund ($1,600), Water and Sewer Fund ($10,200), and Stormwater Fund ($2,600). PURPOSE: The purpose ofthis Board item is to request a supplemental appropriation of $39,400 from the followingfunds due to unanticipated fuel cost increases: General Fund ($25,000), Medical Transport Fund ($1,600), Water and Sewer Fund ($10,200), and Stormwater Fund ($2,600). CONSIDERATIONS: This supplemental appropriation is needed to cover projected fuel expenses city-wide. The revised budget for the affected departments provided for $127,500 of fuel and oil costs while the latest analysis anticipates those costs to be closer to $166,500. This is mainly due to an unanticipated 20% increase in the cost of fuel from fiscal year 2002 to 2003. FUNDING: The $39,500 would be appropriated from the respective Fund Reserves to line code . Fuel and Oil (55210), RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Commission approve a $25,000 supplemental appropriation from the General Fund fund balance, a $1,600 supplemental appropriation from the Medical Transport Fund fund balance, a $10,200 supplemental appropriation from the Water and Sewer Fund fund balance, and a $2,600 supplemental appropriation from the Stormwater Fund fund balance for unanticipated fuel costs.
