L D J-l National Pharmaceutical Stockpile (NPS) Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAM ./ Created in the 1980's ./ Activated on September 11, 2001with partial shipment to New York City ./ Each County in Florida must have a plan to receive and distribute the Stockpile ./ County Health Departments are responsible for the "Clinical Flow" v' County Emergency Management offices are responsible for coordinating non-clinical issues, such as logistics support and security ./ It is possible that the demand for staffing and other resources could exceed that of county government. Municipalities may be requested to assist in establishing or staffing Points of Dispensing (POD) ./ In Seminole County, public schools are the most likely location for PODs ./ PODs could require as many as 25 support staff on duty at a time: o Traffic direction o Public reception, registration and awareness activities o Custodial services o Volunteer Coordinator o POD manager WHAT WE ASK OF THE MUNICIF!.ALITIES IN SEMINOLE COUNTY 1. Designate a point of contact for the Stockpile to the Health Department and Emergency Management. This person should have a well-rounded knowledge of the city's resources and personnel Identify buildings and other resources that could be utilized to support mass vaccination or other medical prevention or treatment activities Identify staff who could assist in establishing or operating Points of Dispensing 2. 3.
