Meetmg MGR fl-mEPT$ Authorization REQUEST: Police Department requesting Commission approval for expenditure of funds to replace a Police Vehicle involved in traffic accident on March 2,2003. PURPOSE: This agenda item is needed to acquire Commission approval of the above mentioned items. CONSIDERATIONS: On March 2,2003 the Police Department had a vehicle that was struck by a driver that was driving under the influence. The police vehicle is a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria with 93,000 miles on the odometer. Nationwide Insurance Company insured the at-fault driver's vehicle and has already paid the claim in the amount of $4,213.86. We would like to appropriate the additional funds required from the general fund balance to replace this vehicle. Classic Chevrolet has an equipped 2003 Chevrolet Impala Police Package on the lot for the State Contract price of$16,200.00. Once the insurance claim amount of$4,213.86 is subtracted from the purchase price the remaining amount necessary to purchase the new vehicle is $11,986.14. FUNDING: The source of remaining funds from the general fund balance at a cost of $11,986.16 RECOMMENDATION: Approve the appropriation of funds from the General Fund Balance. IMPLEMENTA TION SCHEDULE: Immediately upon approval by Commission. COMMISSION ACTION:
