Authorization REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department is requesting the City Commission declare the Senior Center Kiln #301146 surplus to the needs of the city and authorize its donation to Winter Springs High School. PURPOSE: This Agenda Item allows for the declaration of the Senior Center Kiln, #301146 as surplus property, authorization to remove from the City Assets and donation to Winter Springs High School. CONSIDERATIONS: . The Parks and Recreation Department has proposed for surplus property the Senior Center Kiln, #301146 a 14-year-old Kiln that has not been used in over five years and purchased for $ 1,620.15. Ceramic pottery classes have no current interest. The space is needed for other usage. . Winter Springs High School has requested the Kiln for their Pottery Ceramic Classes. . Winter Springs High School works very well with Parks and Recreation regarding usage of their facilities for Basketball, Softball, Meetings, Training Sessions, etc. (We use their facilities considerably more than they use ours). . Winter Springs High School understands that upon donation the Kiln is to be picked up by them and that the city will not be responsible for it or its maintenance, repairs, etc. RECOMMENDATIONS: It is recommended that the Senior Center Kiln #301146 be declared surplus and authorization be granted to remove from the city assets and it be donated to Winter Springs High School. A TT ACHMENTS: December 13,2005 Notify High School and arrange for brief training for operation, maintenance and removal. Rick, Glad WSHS wants the Kiln, we'll do our best to get it to you asap. First we need to do some paperwork. WSHS needs to submit a letter from Dr. B to us on WSHS letterhead that is similar to the one attached, stating that WSHS wants the Kiln and will take all responsibility for it, put how it will benefit the students, etc... Once that's done we put it on an agenda item and take it to the December commission meeting for their approval and they say OK and then we schedule pickup. Need to have the letter by Monday to get to the December mtg, otherwise we wait until Jan mtg. Thanks Chris Caldwell Athletic Supervisor Winter Springs Parks & Recreation 1126 E.
