Authorization AWARDS AND PRESENTATIONS 3. C. Office Of The Mayor Presentation Of A Proclamation To Detective Rob Cable Of The Winter Springs Police Department. Robert Cable began his career with the Winter Springs Police Department in November of 1987 as a patrol officer and right away showed a great interest in the field of investigations. Officer Cable became Investigator Cable in March of 1989 and the city has benefited from that move ever since. Inv. Cable has been involved in almost every high profile case since then, solving literally hundreds of cases, recovering thousands of dollars in merchandise, and putting several of the most violent people in Central Florida in jail. Inv, Cable has been responsible for solving two homicides and convicting the perpetrators of both. The most recent one was where an elderly man was killed in his home and car was stolen. Inv. Cable tracked the subject to New York City where the subject was apprehended and returned to Florida for trial. This person is now in prison on death row. Inv. Cable has always had an interest in bringing lawbreakers to justice and giving the victims closure. Cold cases are what he enjoys working on, but with the expanding city and its population, his current caseload does not give much spare time for cold case review, His most recent cold case investigation and arrest came from a case that occurred five years before he started working for the city. In April of 1984 a subject broke into an Oak Forrest home and sexually assaulted a woman while her infant child was asleep in a near by bedroom. As the subject was getting ready to leave, he stabbed her several times, leaving her for dead. This case had come to a dead end years earlier but Inv. Cable never gave up. He got the opportunity to do DNA comparisons earlier this year and got a match. The match came back to the prime suspect in 1984. The subject is now awaiting trial in the Seminole County Jail. Inv. Cable is a fine example of the officers that serve the community of Winter Springs and is a roll model for our young investigators of the future,
