HomeMy WebLinkAbout2006 12 11 Consent 407 2007 Chevrolet 1-Ton Crew Cab Truck COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM 407 CONSENT December 11, 2006 Meeting REQUEST: Police Department requests that the Commission approve the receipt of $10,000 of grant revenue (FY 07) and expenditure of $13,065 from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund to be used towards the purchase of a 2007 Chevrolet 1- Ton Crew Cab Truck for the Community Services Bureau. PURPOSE: To seek Commission approval to increase the 2007 expenditure budget by $10,000, an amount equal to grant monies received from Seminole County Board of Commissioners, for the purpose of purchasing a 2007 Chevrolet 1- Ton Crew Cab Truck that will be used for towing our 28' Community Services trailer used by the Community Service Bureau during special events. CONSIDERATIONS: On October 10, 2006 the Police Department was informed of its grant award from Seminole County Board of Commissioners in the amount of $10,000.00 for the purchase of a Drug Awareness Specialty Vehicle. In 2005 the Seminole County Board of Commissioners awarded $12,000 to the Department to purchase a 28' trailer that is used for Drug Awareness Programs and community events through out the year. During this grant cycle the monies will be used to acquire the vehicle designed for towing such a large trailer and allow us an additional vehicle for natural disasters and emergencies to set up the trailer as a command center or other types of use. This vehicle will be purchased from Classic Chevrolet on the Florida Sheriffs Vehicle Bid contract number 04-12-0823 as sole source. These funds are required to be used in conjunction with Drug Awareness Programs or new programs within the Department. Federal and State law requires that this agreement must be authorized by the Commission of the City during one of its regularly scheduled meetings. The difference between the grant monies received $10,000 and the $13,065 from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund for a total purchase price of $23,065 that will be transferred to the Police Department Community Services - Vehicles budget 2114-64100. December 11, 2006 Consent Agenda 407 Page 2 of 2 FUNDING: Appropriation from the Law Enforcement Trust Fund in the amount of $13,065 and $10,000 from grant award to be transferred into the Police Department Community Services bureau - Vehicles budget 2114-64100 in a total amount of $23,065 in accordance with the Florida Sheriffs 2007 Vehicle Contract Bid. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the budget adjustments necessary to purchase the Drug Awareness trailer for the Community Services Bureau: . $13,065.00 Law Enforcement Trust Fund appropriation which has a current balance of $59,965.01. . $10,000 grant award from Seminole County Board of Commissioners. IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE: Immediately upon approval by Commission. COMMISSION ACTION:
