COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM I CONSENT X INFORMATIONAL PUBLIC HEARlNG REGULAR January 27,2003 Meeting MGR ~EPT /y Authorization REQUEST: Public Works Requesting Authorization to Purchase One (1) Dump Truck by Piggybacking ofT of Pasco County Bid #02-029F. PURPOSE: The purpose of this Board item is to request authorization to piggyback off of Pasco County Bid #02-029F for the purchase of one (1) 56,000 GVW Tandem Dump Truck for the Public Works Department at a cost of $63,651.00 from Heintzelman's Truck Center, Inc.. CONSIDERA nONS: This vehicle is needed as part of the fleet maintenance and replacement program for the Public Works. Pasco County has already received bids for the Sterling LT7500 being considered under Bid #02-029F, approved 5/7/02. The vehicle requested for purchase is Sterling LT7500 56,000 GVW dump truck. The bid price for the Public Works truck is $63,651.00, which includes dump body. This will replace a 1985 Ford dump truck that continues to require major repairs to keep it operational. The existing dump truck will be auctioned. FUNDING: The vehicle purchase of $63,651.00 is within the $70,000.00 budgeted in the Transportation Improvement Fund vehicle line code 104-56400. Expenditure of the funds will occur within 90 to 120 days. . Consent Agenda Item I January 27, 2003 Page 2 . RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that authorization be granted to piggyback off of Pasco County Bid #02-29F with Heintzelman's Truck Center, Inc. for the purchase of one (1) Sterling LT7500 56,000 GVW dump truck for the Public Works Department at a total cost of $63,651.00 payable from the Public Works Department Vehicle line code 4410-56400. IMPLEMENTA TION SCHEDULE: The delivery of vehicles will occur within the next 90 to 120 days. ATTACHMENTS: None . COMMISSION ACTION:
