PURPOSE: This agenda item is needed for the City Commission to approve revision of the base streetlight rate for the City Standard Streetlight Pole and Cobra Fixture. CONSIDERATIONS: r On April 13, 1998, the City Commission adopted the City Standard Streetlight, which is a non-decorative concrete pole with a basic lOOw cobra fixture, at an original cost of $8.72 per month. In 2002, the rate was adjusted to $9.71, and in 2004 the rate was increased to $10.32 per streetlight. Based upon current Progress Energy rates which include the August 1st, 2004 Storm Cost Recovery Fees, the following details our current cost for the City Standard Streetlight. . Luminaries - Fuel, Energy, and Rental $7.63 . Pole Rental $3.86 . Gross Receipts Tax $ .06 . Total $11.55 r- Item 203 - November 14, 2005 r Since the Municipal Franchise Fee ($0.35) is a 'pass-thru' fee and returned to the City by Progress Energy, it has not been included in the City Standard Streetlight cost. There is also a customer charge of $1.09 on each monthly billing from Progress Energy that cannot be quantified into the individual streetlight cost. FUNDING: Funding for the City Standard Streetlighting will continue to be taken from the Utility Services - Streetlighting Line Code (1525-54312). RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Commission approve the revised City Standard Street Lighting Cost of $11.55 per streetlight. r IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE: The price revision for City Standard Streetlighting will be made effective beginning November 15,2005.
