HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005 10 10 Informational 307 COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM 307 CONSENT INFORMATIONAL X PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR October 10,2004 Meeting REQUEST: Public Works Department / Stormwater Division is advising the City Commission on the Street Sweeping Program of the City. PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to update the City Commission on the Street Sweeping Program of the City maintained roads. CONSIDERATION: · The City maintains approximately 99 miles of roadways, broken down into 92 miles of paved roads and 7 miles of dirt roads. (The City maintained roadways are minimum two (2) lanes.) · The Public Works Department Maintenance crew routinely performs street sweeping of the City paved roadways using the City owned equipment - "Elgin Pelican Model No. 462, Year 1995". · The Public Works Department maintenance records reported total curb-mileage swept for 2003 at 1433 miles, for 2004 at 1288 miles and for 2005 (until August, 2005) at 635 miles. The fall season is the peak time for street sweeping. · The frequency of street sweeping for the City maintained roads is projected at least once every three months. FUNDING: The funding for the operations of the street sweeper program is budgeted annually in Line Code 3800-54630 of the Stormwater Utility Fund. ATTACHMENTS: N/A
