COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM CONSENT INFORMA TIONAL X PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR D June 24, 2002 Meeting MGR V/DEPT .tL Authorization REQUEST: Public Works Department Updating the City Commission on the Status of the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Project PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to update the City Commission on the progress of the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District. CONSIDERA TIONS: Attached is the May monthly progress report for the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District. The irrigation/landscape and electrical sub-contractors have been given a completion date of June 26, 2002 for their work. ATTACHMENTS: 1. May Report COMMISSION ACTION: , . . . ATTACHMENT NO.1 Monthly Status Report - May 2002 Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Entry Way Enhancements The scope of work for this project consists of new entryway enhancements, new inigation and re-Iandscaping of the center median islands along Winter Springs Boulevard. This is a phased project with a contract completion date established as July 61\ 2002. Work in place to date is as follows: General 1. At Tuscawilla and Winter Springs Boulevard entrance, landscaping is ongoing - progress is slow. Contractor has begun modifications to the storm sewer structure, on the North side of Winter Springs Blvd. 2. At the Vistawilla Entrance, landscaping is 98% complete, the electrical remains incomplete to date. 3. Trotwood entrance - Contractor has filled ruts between sidewalk and street as requested. Landscaping forthcoming per addendum. 4. Seneca and Winter Springs entrance, landscaping and electrical remain incomplete to date. 5. Shetland and Citrus entrance, landscaping is complete with the exception of the sod. 6. Tuscora entrance, electrical is incomplete to date. 7. At the Seneca entrance - inigation is in place, no other changes to report. 8. The center median islands along Winter Springs Boulevard, the Landscape Contractor has not completed his deficiency list created during the final walkthrough - letter has been written putting the Contractor on notice. 9. Substantial inspection held regarding brickwork at all entries -list issued - awaiting request from Contractor for final inspection. 10. The Contract completion date for the three minor entries; alternates 1,2 and 3 is October 4th, 2002. Action Items: 1. Homeowners have concerns regarding pond bottom - Contractor pricing out stain to be applied on the bottom of the ponds. 2. Masonry Contractor working on punch list items at all entries. 3. Easements needed for minor entries - alternate 1,2 and 3. 4. Contractor is pricing out chlorination system for the water features at the main entry. 5. Homeowners continue to have concerns regarding visibility along the boulevard - SRI to respond. 6. Contractor working to correct deficiencies as they are brought to his attention. 7. The General Contractor has replaced the Electrical Contractor. 8. The performance of the landscape contractor has been below expectation this month. John S. NeSmith Construction Administrator
