Authorization REQUEST: Public Works Department Updating the City Commission on the Status of the Town Center Roads project. PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to update the City Commission on the progress ofthe Town Center Roads project for April 2002. CONSIDERATIONS: Attached is the April 2002 monthly progress report for the Town Center Roads project. The project was awarded to Esterson Construction at a cost of$1~883,215 and includes the reconstruction and construction of Tuskawilla Road and Hickory Park Grove Boulevard and their associated drainage, utilities, and brick pavers on TuskawiUa Road. The completion date is November 2,2002. The project is approximately 8% complete. ATTACHMENTS: 1. The retention pond. excavation is nearing completion. The Contractor is approximately 70 percent complete. Currently, the Contractor is excavating the top portion of the pond down to elevation 38.00 in preparation of the trenching for the vinyl sheet pile. Once the excavation is complete, the Contractor shall begin final grading on the side slopes. The Contractor shall schedule the grading on the side slopes with the installation of the vinyl sheet pile wall. Once the vinyl sheet pile wall is installed and the tie back system is in place, the decorative block wall shall be constructed. As the wall is constructed, the soil on the backside of the wall will be brought back up, in lifts, the surrounding finished ground elevations. Once the excavation is complete, the Contractor shall begin final grading on the side slopes. 2. Installation of the storm water'collection system has begun. Currently, the 42-inch pipe from manhole S19 to S15 has been installed including all storm manholes. A portion of the backfill and compaction from manhole S19 to S17 has been completed. The Contractor is currently working on installing. the balance of the 42" storm pipe from manhole S15 to inlet S10, near the intersection of SR 434 and Hickory Grove Park Road. 3. To date there have been no submittals for change orders. CPH Engineers has reviewed the second pay request and has determined that there will be ,at a minimum two change orders for the project. Once the project is complete, the Engineer will review a final quantities change order. 4. The City and the Contractor have received revised plans showing the parking spaces sloping towards the flow line along the edge of pavement for both Tuskawilla and Hickory Grove Park Roads. The following items are items that are in progress: 1 The locations of the right-of-way and utility easement areas along the east side of Tuskawilla Road have been drafted by Tinklepaugh Surveying. Tinklepaugh is SANFORD . ORLANDO . OELAND . PALM CITY CAPE CORAL . JACKSONVILLE . PALM COAST . PUERTO RICO ~~ "'.. currently drafting the legal descriptions written. This will be forwarded to the Engineer once completed. 2 The location and description of the additional right-of-way along the south and east side of Hickory Grove Park Road and along the west side of Tuskawilla Road at SR 434 have been completed. The descriptions have been forwarded to Tinklepaugh Surveying for their review and confirmation. The proposed RfW dedication for Hickory Grove Park Road appeared to be correct. The City was notified of this. The proposed dedication on the west side of Tuskawilla was not correct and this description is being redone. 3 The location of the Florida Power "switch gear" still needs to be finalized. It is our understanding the location is to be inside the Doran site adjacent to right-of-way line on the west side of Tuskawilla Road. 4 CPH is has received a revised cost estimate for the revisions to the plans at the intersection of Hickory Grove Park Road and SR 434. Once approved by the City, they shall be incorporated into the construction of the project. 5 CPH has received a cost estimate for a proposed force main to be installed from the south side of SR 434 to the first sanitary sewer manhole on Hickory Grove Park Road.
