HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002 05 13 Informational D Status of the TLBD Project ~. , COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM D CONSENT INFORMA TIONAL X PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR I May 13, 2002 Meeting MGR rv- IDEPT J~ Authorization REQUEST: Public Works Department Updating the City Commission on the Status of the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Project PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to update the City Commission on the progress of the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District. CONSIDERA TIONS: Attached is the April monthly progress report for the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District. Change orders #3 and #4 were approved on April 220d. ATTACHMENTS: 1. April Report COMMISSION ACTION: , A TT ACHMENT NO. 1 Monthly Status Report - April 2002 Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Entry Way Enhancements The scope of work for this project consists of new entryway enhancements, new irrigation and re-Iandscaping of the center median islands along Winter Springs Boulevard. This is a phased project with a contract completion date established as May 16th, 2002. Work in place to date is as follows: General 1. At Tuscawilla and Winter Springs Boulevard entrance, brick pavers around the perimeter of the ponds is complete. Final grading is 95% complete, landscaping to include laying of sod is in progress. 2. At the Vistawilla Entrance, no progress this month, Landscaping is scheduled to start the week of 5/6/02. 3. Trotwood entrance - damaged sidewalk has been removed and re-poured on the Southside of the entrance. 4. Seneca and Winter Springs entrance, irrigation is complete, landscaping scheduled for the week of 5/6/02. 5. Shetland and Citrus entrance, no change, landscaping scheduled for the week of 5/6/02. 6; Tuscora entrance, sign wall unacceptable on the East side of Tuscora, field order issued for Contractor to correct. No new progress to report at this time. 7. At the Seneca entrance - the brick walls are complete on both sides of the roadway. 8. The center median islands along Winter Springs Boulevard are 100% complete. Islands 8 thru 23 have been substantially inspected. Contractor has requested final inspection for the above mentioned islands. Inspection set for Friday, May 3rd, 2002,' 9. Signs have been installed at all entrance walls - substantial inspection held - Contractor working on deficiencies. Awaiting request for final inspection. Action Items: 1. Homeowners have concerns regarding pond bottom - finish is too rough, Architect to address concerns. 2. Homeowner at the South Side of Trotwood has concerns regarding ruts and landscaping in his yard. Contractor has removed and re-poured portion of sidewalk adjacent to homeowner's property. 3. Kangie Graham has voiced her opinion regarding Contractors abuse of trees. Contractor aware of Ms. Graham's concerns. 4. SRI to issue controls and wall types for alternate 1,2 and 3. Sites have been laid out. 5. Brick pavers to be reinstalled at bull nose ends of islands after irrigation mains repaired. 6. Contractor working to correct deficiencies as they are brought to his attention. 7. Landscaping and irrigation needs to be addressed at the Trotwood Entrance, not in contract. 8. Masonry Contractor is working to correct unacceptable brickwork brought to his attention by the Architect. John S. NeSmith Construction Administrator
