REQUEST: Public Works Department Updating the City Commission on the Status of
the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Projed
PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to update the City Commission on the progress
of the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District.
CONSIDERA TIONS:
Attache.d is the March 2002 monthly progress report for the Tuscawilla Lighting
and Beautification District. The landscape maintenance contract and also fertilization anq
pest control contract for the entranceways and Winter Springs Boule:vard have been
executed and implemented where work has been accepted.

TuscawiIIa Lighting and Beautification District
Entry Way Enhancements
The scope of work for this project consists of new entryway enhancements, new irrigation and
re-landscaping of the center median islands along Winter Springs Boulevard.
This is a phased project with a contract completion date established as June 6, 2002. Work in
place to date is as follows:
General
1. At Tuscawilla and Winter Springs Boulevard entrance, the liners are installed and
shotcrete has been applied at the ponds for the water feature. Grading and irrigation work
is in progress. Sub base for brick pavers is in place around the perimeter of fountains.
Observation revealed point up and rubbing of the shotcrete and concrete cap (at the
ponds) will be required.
2. Trotwood at Tuscawilla entrance, Contractor needs to fill in ruts left from construction
activities.
3. Seneca and Winter Springs entrance, landscaping scheduled to start within the next two
weeks.
4. Shetland and Citrus entrance, landscaping scheduled to start within the next two weeks.
5. Tuscora entrance, sign wall unacceptable on the East side of Tuscora., field order issued
to Contractor to correct.
6. The center median islands along Winter Springs Boulevard are complete. Islands 1 thru
7 have been accepted and turned over to the owner. Final Inspection of Islands 8 thru 23
has been made and Contractor issued deficiency list. A waiting request for final re-
inspection.
7. Signs have been installed at all entrance walls - Contractor has requested inspection.
Action Items
1. Change orders #3 & #4 issued to the Contractor for signature April 11, 2002.
2. Homeowner at the South Side of Trotwood has concerns regarding ruts and landscaping
in his yard. Contractor to respond.
3. Kangie Graham requesting removal and replacement of 10 pine trees. along Winter
Springs Boulevard and various irrigation deficiencies.
4. SRI to issue controls and wall types for alternate 1,2 and 3.
5. Brick pavers to be reinstalled at bull nose ends on April 15, 2002
6. Final Inspection of sign and entry walls scheduled for April 18, 2002.
7. Landscaping and irrigation at the Trotwood Entrance, not in contract. Needs to be
addressed
