CITY OF OVIEDO FLORIDA 400 ALEXANDRIA BOULEVARD. OVIEDO, FLORIDA 32765. (407) 977-6000 V. EUGENE WILLIFORD, III CITY MANAGER MEMORANDUM TO: All Dog Park Survey Participants ....1. FROM: Cara Geers, Recreation superintendentCCe" November 14,2001 DATE: SUBJECT: Dog Park Survey Results Attached you will find the results of the Dog Park Survey done by the City of Oviedo. We are very excited to see the number of cities and counties interested in Dog Parks. The overwhelming response is if a city/county does not currently have a dog park they either are currently developing one or requested this survey information to take further action in planning a dog park! Sixty-seven cities and counties responded to our survey. However, due to recent current events, there has been a policy change in the way the Oviedo Recreation and Parks Department receives mail. Many additional cities and counties responded to our survey, but we were unable to put them in our survey because we could not identify from where the survey was sent. Answers were filled in- with-info rmat ion- provided by-thevarious -cities -and.counties: - Blank- --.------ spaces are due to lack of information at this time. There are several locations included in this survey that are not currently planning a dog park, but with additional information they to hope to be planning a dog park in the near future. It appears that this type of recreation facility is both wanted and needed in many Florida communities. Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me at your convenience, 407-977-6078. Thank you for taking the time from your hectic schedules to aid in our survey. We appreciate your efforts and wish you a happy holiday season. .; f cuT 6"7 / 'i. I Dog Park Survey Results Currently Planning a Dog Park? As a community based organizations, we are committed to continuing to support Bark park with ongoing programs and improve- ments for you and your pets. We are also working on special events and education programs that will begin in a few weeks. Thank you for visiting Bark Park. We have enjoyed making what was a widely held dream into a barkin' good time. . ,l For more uuonhation about joining the Friends of Bark Park, as an individual, family or business, please see the related story in this newsletter or speak to the Park staff. \ I 1 C~. __ - ".~' . PARK P'OSITIONS AVAILABLE Training has begun for any- one interested in helping to operate Bark park Because the park is open 84 hours each week (that's 12 hours each day, seven days a week) the staff- ingneeds of the park are considerable. While there are always employees lo- cated throughout Snyder Park, the park management hopes to staff the actual dog park site during all hours of operation, and volunteers can make this happen. For a small donation of time, volunteers will receive a "good dog" pass (free admission) for use at the park. Volunteers can spend as little as one hour and as much as 8 hours at the park. Bark Park volunteers will assi:st with, pab:on sign ,ins,. ,~(Lc~. also help out with Education pro- -grains or specfal' park events. 'First' . and last shift volunteers will also handle some of the opening and clos- ing responsibilities.
