HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002 09 23 Informational C Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Project ; COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM C CONSENT INFORMATIONAL X PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR September 23, 2002 Meeting MGR 11\./ /DEPT ~ Authorization REQUEST: Public Works Department Updating the City Commission on the Status of the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Project PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to update the City Commission on the progress of the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District. CONSIDERATIONS: Attached is the August monthly progress report for the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District. The additional entrances on Dyson, Deer Run and Howell Creek are scheduled for completion in October. The City still holds approximately $110,000 for punch list items and work to be completed. PLANN!NG AND Aft; 40/9171019; .~ SEP-10-02 2:13PM; PAGE 1/2 Monthly Status Report - August 2002 Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Entry Way Enhancements The scope of work. for this project consists of new entryway enhancements. new inigation and re-Iandscaping of the center median islands along Winter Springs Boulevard. This is a phased project with a contract completion date established as July 6UJ, 2002. Work in place to date is as follows: General 1. The Contract completion date for the three minor entries; alternates I ,2 and 3 is October 4th, 2002. 2. At the above three minor entries the brick pavers are in place, footings have been excavated and rebar placed for the brick (planter) structures. 3. Substantial completion of the main entry (Winter Springs Boulevard at Tuscawilla) and all minor entries was held on SnJ02. Contractor has requested (in writing) final inspection and Contract closeout. letter dated August 29,2002 attached. Action [terns: L SRI to sch~duJed final inspection for the main enby and all minor entries in the first phase of construction. 2. The rails and signage remain incomplete (not installed) at the Seneca Entry. 3. Homeowners continue to express their concerns regarding project completion.. 4. Contractor working to correct deficiencies as they are brought to his attention. 5. City of Winter Springs is seeking bids for the maintenance of the ponds at the main entry. 6. Meeting - inspection is set for 9/12/02 to address concerns and issues regarding landscape deficiencies~ to include dead plants and trees planted to deep. 7.
