REQUEST: The Finance Department is requesting the City Commission consider
information requested at the 7/15/02 Budget Workshop regarding City Attorney Billable
Hours.
PURPOSE: To relay information requested at the 7/15/02 Budget Workshop regarding City
Attorney Billable Hours.
CONSIDERATIONS:
Per the attached spreadsheet, the City Attorney's firm of Brown Ward Salzman has billed the
City for 2,423.20 hours of attorney time in the first 11 months ofFY 02. The City Attorney's
firm charges $11 O/hour for its attorneys.
Through the first 11 months ofFY 02, the City has paid Brown Ward and Salzman $280,273.53.
This amount includes attorney time, support staff time, and expenses as detailed on the attached
schedule.
In addition, the City utilizes the services of other specialty law firms. The amOlmt paid to those
firms in the first 11 months ofFY 02 is $16,442.06.
RECOMMENDATION:
None - for information only.
