HomeMy WebLinkAbout2002 02 25 Informational C Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Project \ COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM c CONSENT INFORMATIONAL X PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR February 25,2002 Meeting )~ MGR Authorization REQUEST: Public Works Department Updating the City Commission on the Status of the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District Project PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to update the City Commission on the progress of the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District. CONSIDERA TIONS: Attached is the January monthly progress report for the Tuscawilla Lighting and Beautification District. Florida Power Corporation has replaced 62 of the 139 streetlights as of February 14th. All streetlights should be replaced by the end of the month. 7,000 feet of the 30,000 feet of underground wiring has been replaced. All wiring replacement should be completed by April 1 st. . To date, $1,087,395.96 of the $1,865,500.53 contract amount (58%) has been paid for the work completed. The bid award for the fertilization and pest control of the entranceways and Winter Springs Boulevard is projected to be awarded at the March meeting. ATTACHMENTS: I. The scope of work for this project consists of new entryway enhancements, new irrigation and fe-landscaping of the center median islands along Winter Springs Boulevard. This is a phaSed 'project with a contract completion date established as May 16th, 2002. Work: in place to date is as follows: General 1. At Tuscawilla and Winter Springs Boulevard entrance, the brickwork is complete, decorative cap block have been placed on columns. The fountain and water feature work have started on the north side of Winter Springs Boulevard. 2. At the Vistawilla Entrance, brickwork is complete. The precast caps are installed on the columns, and irrigation has been placed. 3. Trotwood and Tuscawilla entrance, precast caps are in place at columns, brickwork: is 100%. 4. Seneca and Winter Sprin~ entrance, brickwork has begun on the south side of Winter Springs Boulevard. Foundations have been excavated with rehar in place on the north side. Grass bas been stripped on both sides of Seneca at the new wall locations. 5. Shetland and Citrus entrance, brickwork is complete and irrigation has been placed No landscaping has been installed to date. Site is clean of debris. 6. Tuscora entrance, walls are 85% complete. Completion scheduled week of 2111/02. Field Order issued to the Contractor for correct elevation (height) of walls. 7. The center median islands along Winter Springs Boulevard are 75% complete. Islands 1 through 7 are substantially complete. Final Inspection is set for 2114/02. Action Items 1. The large oak tree at the Tuscawilla entry is scheduled for removal. 2. Approval is pending on the revised sign schedule, per City of Winter Springs Public Works. 3. Point-up and punch out of all brickwork in place at entries. 4. Awaiting close out documents for the landscaping and irrigation of islands 1 through 7. 5. Need decision on removal and trimming of various trees within the medians of Winter Springs Boulevard. Cost breakdown received from the Contractor. Kangie Graham to follow up. 6. AU sites need to be cleaned and construction materials stored and stacked properly (away from roadway). 7.
