Authorization REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department wishes to inform the City Commission about the July 4, 2006 Celebration of Freedom Special Event. PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is to further inform the City Commission regarding the July 4" 2006, Celebration of Freedom. CONSIDERATIONS: . The City of Winter Springs has conducted successful Independence Day Special Events for the past 7 years. . The Winter Springs Rotary Club will again provide the very successful and popular kids games area and will raffle a large grill to benefit the Veterans Memorial. . This year Local 6 WKMG-TV Orlando, Mix 105.1 FM and a-Rock 105.9 will be promoting the event and broadcasting live at times from the event. . Shuttle Buses Service will be provided beginning at 5:00 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. and returning from 9:45 p.m. to 11 :00 p.m. THE EAST SIDE LOCATIONS WEST SIDE LOCATIONS Winter Springs Town Center Metro Church St. Stephens Catholic Church Trotwood Park Winter Springs Elementary School Highlands Elementary School Village Market Place · Central Florida's Longest and Best Firework Presentation (30 minutes), Choreographed will light up the night sky with exciting sound tracks. Michael Andrew & the Atomic Big Band to Headline this year's Celebration of Freedom Hailed as "one of the greatest singers of all- time" by media mogul Merv Griffin, Michael Andrew, accompanied by the Atomic Big Band, brings his brand of sophisticated swing music to this year's Celebration of Freedom. A consummate master showman, Andrew has performed to capacity crowds at some of the most exclusive venues in America from Florida to New York to L.A. His resume includes headlining performances at New York's world famous Rainbow Room and Merv Griffin's Resorts International Casino Hotel in Atlantic City. He has also appeared as a singer and band leader in the movies HeartBreakers and Bobby Jones, Stroke of Genius. Andrew & the Atomic Big Band kick off at 6:00 pm on the Main Stage, joined by special guests Micelle Amato, Amy Baker and Gladys Justinano. Ms. Amato recently performed with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra at the First Annual Winter Springs Celebration of Spring. Additionally, she has performed and recorded with an incredibly diverse array of artists including Liza Minelli, Sandi Patty, Donna Summer, and Michael McDonald. Ms. Baker has performed worldwide at venues including the Salzburg Festival in Salzburg Austria, Piazzo San Marco in Venice, Italy, the Staadt Hotel in Karlskrona, Sweden. She has also appeared repeatedly as a featured artist for Radisson Seven Seas Cruises. Also, don't miss the Q-Rock Stage featuring Madhouse, Wiltown and John Frank beginning at 5:00 pm!
