REQUEST: Public Works Department, Urban Beautification Division, Requesting
Authorization To Enter Into A Contract Agreement For The Installation Of
Landscaping And Irrigation For The Oak Forest Lighting And Beautification
District Wall.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Board item is to request authorization to enter into a contract
agreement with Ken-Lin Landscaping for the installation of landscaping and irrigation
along the Oak Forest wall at a capital cost of $59,489.17 plus a 10% contingency.
CONSIDERATIONS:
This agreement is needed to complete the landscaping capital project along the Oak
Forest Wall that was first brought to the Commission on March 8, 2004 in Informational Item
306 and later approved by the Commission on September 13, 2004 in Regular Item 507; for
the Oak Forest Wall and Beautification District,
A pre-bid meeting was held for the project under ITB 001-05/SR on January 12,2005,
with (8) bidders in attendance, Bids were received on February 18, 2005, with Ken-Lin
Landscaping as the only bidder submitting at a cost of $59,489.17, which came in below the
budgeted cost of $64,950,00 for this portion of the project,
FUNDING:
The scope of work for this contract is funded by the Oak Forest Wall and
Beautification District - Capital Improvements line code (309-65000-30052). The funds for
this project will be expended as a lump sum once the project is completed and inspected.

RECOMMENDA TION:
It is recommended that authorization be given to enter into a contract agreement with Ken-Lin
Landscaping for Bid #ITB 001-05/SR, landscape and irrigation installation for the Oak Forest Wall
and Beautification District, at a cost of$59,489,17 plus 10% contingency.
IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE:
Work will commence on May 1, 2005 and is scheduled to be completed on or before
July 29,2005.
