REQUEST: The Community Development Department requests the City Commission hold a
Public Hearing for aesthetic review of the Camero office site.
PURPOSE: The purpose is to provide an aesthetic review for the conversion of an existing
single- family residential building to a small office.
APPLICABLE LAW AND PUBLIC POLICY:
Chapter 9, Article XI.

Minimum Community Appearance and Aesthetic Review
CHRONOLOGY:
Jan. 26, 2004 City Commission adopted Ordinance 2003-43, establishing minimum community
appearance and aesthetic review.
March 28,2004 City Commission voted to approve final engineering/site plan.
CONSIDERATIONS: This is a small site that is being converted from a single-family
residence to a small office. The applicant has limited opportunities to change existing residential
scale of the site and its surrounding area. They have proposed as much landscaping as the site
will accommodate (approved with the final engineering plans on March 28) and have proposed
an aesthetically appealing sign (although the sign may be difficult to read from SR 434 at 45
mph) in the front yard, set back 10 feet from the property line and outside of the line of sight
triangle at the comer of SR 434 and Charles Street.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Commission approve the Camero site aesthetic review.
