PURPOSE: The purpose of this board item is to provide the Commission with current information regarding recent parking issues in Heritage Park. CONSIDERATIONS: In early February the Code Enforcement Bureau was made aware of several parking issues within Heritage Park. After investigating we found that Heritage Park residents were frequently parking on the street and blocking the roadway enough that would prevent passage of emergency vehicles. This issue was found predominantly along the length of Tradition Lane (see attached map). With the inability of clear passage of emergency vehicles, Code Enforcement issued a total of 50 notices of warnings. This action had an immediate impact as far as moving the vehicles off the roadway. However, there were some concerns expressed by the residents which required additional dialogue with the residents and the HOA. Some ofthe issues that were discussed in these meetings related to: . Ongoing construction of residences. . Multi-vehicle households. . U sing garages as storage, etc. Code Enforcement and the City Engineer continue to work with the residents and HOA to resolve some of these issues. While the parking issue is now improved, there are still some concerns associated with Heritage Park: · The 46 visitor parking spaces are almost completely filled at night and are heavily used during daytime hours. · Some residents and visitors still park on the street, even when visitor parking spaces are available. · The closest available visitor parking for residents of Tradition Lane is at the far west end of the complex. · Some visitor parking areas are poorly lit and that factor discourages use of the spaces. May 08, 2006 Infonnational Agenda Item 502 Page 2 of 3 We will continue to monitor and work with the residents to resolve the issues to relieve the on-street parking problem. Some of the enforcement actions that have been taken to date are listed below: .
