REQUEST: City Manager informing the Commission of resolution of the tree issue at Jesups
Reserve.
PURPOSE: This agenda item is needed to inform the Commission of the resolution the double
tree lined sidewalk issue in the Jesups Reserve project.
CONSIDERATIONS:
At the April 10, 2006 Commission meeting I questioned staff about the sidewalk along SR 434
in the Jesups Reserve town home project. My question was regarding the negotiated settlement
in which the city agreed to drop the requirement for a frontage road in return for a double tree
lined sidewalk.
This matter has now been successfully resolved. The problem was caused by the FDOT
sidewalk alignment which did not give enough room on the south side of the sidewalk for
planting trees, not the developer who was fully prepared to comply with the agreement. After
consulting with FDOT, FDOT has agreed to allow the developer to realign the sidewalk that
allows the developer to accomplish the great majority of the original agreed upon plan.
