Authorization IDEPT ~(? REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department is providing information to the City Commission regarding the 200 I Winter Springs Summer Day Camp Program. PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to inform the City Commission of the results of the 2001 Summer Day Camp Program. CONSIDERATIONS: . On 2/26/01 Parks and Recreation informed the City Commission of its plans to again conduct a Summer Day Camp Program at the Sunshine Park Civic Center. . The Summer Day Camp started on June 4,2001 and ended on August 3, 2001. Camp days and hours were Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. . This Summer Day Camp Program was again well received. The program included fun activities, a good staff, and many excellent field trips. Three (3) Scholarships were awarded. It was a successful program. . The Summer Day Camp had a revenue of $ 45,551. COMMISSION ACTION: 2 ATTACHMENT III Pr02ram Fees City of Winter Springs Residents: *$75 per week! includes all Field Trips. City of Winter Springs Residents: $65 per week! includes all Field Trips except Friday all day trip! Non-Residents: $85 per week! includes all Field Trips. Non-Residents: $75 per week! includes all Field Trips except Friday all day trip! *Program fee includes (1) t-shirt, pool time and all activities plus field trips. If you choose not to attend camp on certain days we do not pro-rate. Payment for the first week of camp is due at time of registration. Additional weeks may be reserved by paying a 50% deposit for each additional week requested. Program fees are non-refundable. WHO: Ages 6-12 WHEN: Monday through Friday, 7:30am - 6:00pm, June 1st - August 4th. Registration Dates City of Winter Springs Residents ONLY registration - Monday, April 17th - Friday, April 21st, from 8:00am - 8:00pm at Central Winds Park Non-Residents registration - Monday, April 24th - Friday, April 28th, from 8:00am - 8:00pm at Central Winds Park. Enrollment is limited to 70 children each week. General Rules and Regulations All children must be signed out by their parent/legal guardian each day. No one is permitted to leave the facility or pick up a child without written parental permission. The City does not allow visiting family/ friends to attend for the day. Children are required to wear shirts, shorts and athletic shoes each day. Towels, swimsuits and water bottles are needed each day. Children may wear WHITE t-shirts over swimsuits in the pool. Sunscreen should be applied at home each morning, 80% of our day is spent outdoors. Please label belongings. Children must bring a non-perishable lunch and drink each day. We have two scheduled snack times each day. Soda machines are available. Children are to remain with their groups at all times. Behavior that might cause an accident or hurt others will not be tolerated. If your child is asked to leave camp due to disciplinary reasons there are no refunds. Do not send sick children to camp. Parents will be required to pick up sick children. Staff is not permitted to administer medicine of any kind. If your child requires medical attention beyond a Band-Aid, City Paramedics will be called. The City of Winter Springs is not responsible for items lost, damaged or stolen at Sunshine Park or during field trips. Children should not bring games and toys to camp. All fees must be paid in full for the first week a child is going to attend Summer Day Camp. 50% deposits may be applied to reserve a space in additional weeks of camp to guarantee a space, all field trip fees must be paid in full. If a child does not attend camp on certain days fees are not pro-rated. Refunds are available prior to the start of the program by written request and program receipt, less a 25% administrative fee. Once the program begins there are no refunds. All Summer Day Camp staff will attend each field trip. If your child does not attend a field trip you must make other arrangements for them. Supervision will not be available at Sunshine Park on field trip days. Again, if your child is asked to leave Summer Day Camp due to discipline problems, refunds are not available.
