REQUEST: Police Department informing the Commission that the it will be hosting a
meeting with the residents on George Street concerning parking on George Street.
PURPOSE: To inform Commission that the Police Department will be hosting a
meeting with the residents of George Street concerning the parking of their vehicles on
George Street.
CONSIDERATIONS: The Police Department has met with City residents in
reference to parking on the grass easement between George Street and State Route 419
and alternatives to the parking problems in the area. Because this neighborhood is one of
the oldest residential areas in the city, the configuration of the right-of-ways do not
accommodate the multi vehicle families of today. The street/sidewalk design on George
Street creates an even greater problem than other areas ofthe city.
Another meeting is planned in September to work out a final design for parallel parking
to ease current problems on George Street. Several solutions are being offered including
an option to widen the pavement and another is to create a one way street. The
Department will report back to Commission at the October 22, 2001 Commission
meeting with the results and recommendations from this meeting.
FUNDING: None, no requirement for expenditure of city funds.
RECOMMENDATION: None at this time.

Immediately upon approval by Commission.
