Authorization REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department wishes to inform the City Commission that it plans to conduct a Summer Day Camp Program at the SWlShine Park Civic Center. PURPOSE: To inform the Commission that the Parks and Recreation Department will conduct a Swnmer Day Camp Program again this Summer at the Sunshine Park Civic Center. CONSIDERATIONS: · The Parks and Recreation Department successfully conducted a summer day camp program in 1999 and 2000. · The SWlShine Park Civic Center is available to schedule a summer day camp program. · The Cities of Oviedo, Sanford, Lake Mary, Longwood, Casselberry and Altamonte Springs conduct Summer Day Camp Programs. · Parks and Recreation will closely monitor income and expenses to ensure completion of the program within available revenues. COMMISSION ACTION: 2 Attachment A City of Winter Springs Parks & Recreation Summer Day Camp 2001 Sunshine Park General Rules and Re2ulations All parents will sign the Registration form, stating that they understand and will fonow the General Rules and Relnllations of the Sumnrer Day Camp 2001. The information below fully illustrates the General Rules and Relmlations parent(s)/legal guardian(s) must follow. 1. The parent(s)lIegal guardian(s) must sign out their child each day. No one is permitted to leave the facility or pick up a child without written parental consent. The City of Winter Springs does not anow visiting family and friends to attend our summer camp for the day. 2. Each child is required to wear a shirt, shorts, and athletic shoes each day. Towels, swim suits, and water bottles are needed each day. Children may wear a WlllTE T-shirt over their swimsuits when in the pool. "SUNSCREEN SHOULD BE APPLIED AT HOME EACH MORNING - 80% OF OUR DAY IS SPENT OUTDOORS. ** 3. Please label belongings. 4. Children must bring a non-perishable lunch and drink EACH day. We have two scheduled snack times each day. Snacks are available with items ranging from $.50 to $1.00. Parents will be notified of a scheduled Pizza Day, each week, in which slices will be sold per slice cost. 5. Children must remain with their groups at an times. Any behavior that might cause an accident or hurt others will not be tolerated. If your child is asked to leave camp due to disciplinary reasons, there are NO refunds. 6. Do not send sick children to camp. If a child becomes ill during camp hours the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) will be required to pick up sick children. Staff is not permitted to administer medicine of any kind. If your child requires medical attention beyond a Band-Aid, City Paramedics will be notified. 7. The City of Winter Springs is not responsible for items lost, damaged or stolen at Sunshine Park or during field trips. Children cannot bring games or toys to camp. In addition, parents have signed that they understand there is $5.00 per 5 minute fee charged for children NOT picked up by 6:00PM. In the same matter, children should NOT be permitted into the facility or considered our responsibility until 7:30AM. These are the general rules and regulations. Good sound judgement should always be applied. A non-refundable $10.00 per week deposit may be applied to reserve a space in any additional weeks of the Summer Day Camp 2001. Ifa child does not attend camp on certain days fees are not pro-rated. Refunds are available prior to the start of the program by written request and program receipt, less a 25% administrative fee. Once the program begins there are no refunds. All Swnmer Day Camp staff attends each field trip. If your child does not attend a field trip you must make other arrangements for them. Supervision will not be available at Sunshine Park on field trip days. If your child is asked to leave Summer Day Camp due to discipline problems, refunds are not available.
