Authorization
REQUEST: City Manager requesting to establish a workshop date on the City
Charter.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is for the City Commission to set a
workshop date to discuss the provisions of the City Charter recommended by the Charter
Committee.
CONSIDERATION:
On August 28, 2000 the City created the Winter Springs Charter Review Committee to
recommend improvements that could improve the Charter.
On January 18, 2001 the Charter Committee transmitted their recommendations to a Special
Meeting of the City Commission.
The Commission decided to establish a date that would be workable with the Committee,
consultants and the Commissioners for further discussions.
Mr. Burgess and Mrs, Crotty can be available on any of the following dates:
Monday, February 5, 2001
Wednesday, February 7, 2001
Thursday, February 8, 2001
Wednesday, February 14, 2001
Wednesday, February 21,2001
Thursday, February 22, 2001
Monday, February 26,2001
Wednesday, February 28, 2001

FUNDING:
The Commission approved $25,000 for the project. To date the City has expended approximately
$14,000.
Mr. Burgess has completed his obligation under the agreement but has agreed to be available for
$300 a day plus expenses.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the Commission set a date for the workshop to continue review of the
City Charter recommendations provided by the Charter Review Committee.
