REQUEST:
Mayor Paul P. Partyka requests the City Commission consider the
following three items: 1) The status of signalization for Vistawilla Drive
at State Road 434; 2) Review of the "RepOlis" section of the Agenda and
consider whether the Reports section could be moved to an earlier slot in
each Agenda; and 3) Changing the processes for Planning and Permitting.
PURPOSE:
The purpose of this Agenda Item is for the City Commission to consider
the following following three items: 1) The status of signalization for
Vistawilla Drive at State Road 434; 2) Review of the "Reports" section of
the Agenda and consider whether the Reports section could be moved to
an earlier slot in each Agenda; and 3) Changing the processes for Planning
and Permitting.
CONSIDERATIONS:
1) As there have been several major accidents at the intersection of
Vistawilla Drive and State Road 434, and since approval for a traffic
light has been granted by the Florida Depmiment of Transportation,

the City Commission should have some means by which we may
expedite this process to ensure the safety of our citizens.
2) Due to the length of many of our City Commission meetings, we often
do not get to the "Reports" section. I would be interested in having the
City Commission consider moving the "Reports" section to just after
"Public Input."
3) At the recent "Business Leadership" breakfast, held this past August
22, 2000, it was suggested that our planning and permitting process be
revamped to make it more efficient and effective.

Dear Ron:
I am requesting the following items appear on the Regular Agenda for our next regular
City Commission meeting on 9/11/00:
1. The status of signalization for Vistawilla Dr. & Rt. 434. As background, I had notified
you immediately after I witnessed a third major accident at this intersection. This follows
the two mentioned previously to F.D.O.T. My understanding is, they have agreed to
permit a signal there after confirmation of the second accident. Now with the third, there
must be some process where the city could expedite the construction of this signal at this
dangerous intersection. Our goal is to prevent these dangerous accidents in the future.
2. Discussion on changing the format of City Commission meetings. Requesting End-
of-Meeting Reports by the members on the dais be moved to the front of the meeting
immediately following Public Input and before the Information Agenda.
A separate position paper will be provided shortly to you for use by the Commissioners
on this topic.
3. Discussion on changing the processes for planning and permitting. This is a direct
request from our business community voiced at The Business Leadership Breakfast held
on August 22 in City Hall. The group talked about the benefits of having an efficient
planning and permitting process similar to what is being done for our Downtown District.
