NATIONAL CONGRESS FOR
SECURE COMMUNITIES
Dear Friend:
Pubtic/Privare Co~nrmunity Partnerships
for the First 72 Hours o f Crisis
~CCCIi~bl'I' ~ ~-~ 8, ~~~(~ 7
Capitol Hill Hyatt Regency
Washington, D.C.
www. nationalcongress.org
Please join me and myfellow co-chairmen to launch the 2007 National Congress
for Secure Communities on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
You are invited to participate in the General Sessions this December 17 and 18,
attend the National Service or Sacrifice Awards ceremony honoring organizations and
individuals who have given exceptional service or sacrifice for their community, and
visit the National Blueprint Best Practices Expo adjacent to the General Session hall.
As a leader in your field, the National Congress proceedings will benefit from
your experience and advice to help develop ways to improve community preparedness
and response capability to strengthen our domestic preparedness and make our country
more secure.
The mission of the National Congress is to identify corporate and community
best practices that can be demonstrated through public/private partnerships to help
America's local government and community leaders share ideas on how to harness and
leverage their community resources to prepare for and respond during the first 72 hours
of crisis.
As we have recently seen, governments will always need local partners to respond
adequately to amass-casualty crisis-whether by terrorism or nature. No government is
large enough, or has enough money, to protect everyone, every place, all the time.
Delegates will represent corporate, community, academic, law enforcement, fire
& rescue, medical, faith-based organizations, as well as local, tribal, state and local
government leaders from across the country.
We'll also be joined by Secretary Michael Checkoff for the keynote address, and
hear from Asst. Sec. Al Martinez-Fonts and other government leaders, experts and
community organizations from all sectors and regions.
I hope you'll visit www.nationalcongress.org/registration.php to register today.
Please note that you can also qualify for 2.0 hours of Continuing Education Credits by
registering and attending. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Jeb Carney,
who is helping me organize this Congress. He can be reached at 540-630-6400.
I look forward to seeing you in Washington, D.C on December 17 and 18 for the
2007 National Congress for Secure Communities.
Sincerely,
Honorable Asa Hutchinson
Under Secretary of the Department of
Homeland Security X2003-2005)
Member of Congress X1994-2002)
