REQUEST: Public Works Department Requesting Authorization to "Piggy-back" ofT the
Seminole County Contract IFB-3110-05 A/B for construction of the
intersection Signalization System Improvements at State Road 434 and SR
419 and the repair of the traffic signal at SR 419 and Edgemon Ave. with
Chinchor Electric, Inc.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Board item is to request authorization to "Piggy-back" off of
Seminole County Contract IFB-3110-05 A/B and enter into a contractual
agreement with Chinchor Electric, Inc., for the construction of a traffic
signalization system at the intersection of State Road 434 and SR 419 at a cost of
$188,181. 31 plus a 10% contingency and the repair of the traffic signal at SR 419
and Edgemon Ave at a cost of $22,838.93 plus 10% contingency.
CONSIDERA TIONS:
The project at SR 434 and SR 419 is needed to provide for improved traffic
control and safety at this intersection. The project scope of work includes all labor,
equipment, and materials for the installation of a complete traffic signalization system.
The signals will be mast arms as per the City standard. All permits have been received.
The mast arm at the SR 419 and Edgemon Avenue was damaged during a traffic
accident and needs to be replaced. The project scope of work includes all labor,
equipment, and materials for the installation of a replacement mast arm. The information
for the party that damaged the mast arm has been provided to the City Attorney.

FUNDING:
This signal replacement was budgeted for this fiscal year in the amount $150,000.
The proposed contract amount of $188, 181.31 is available for this project in the Road
Improvements Fund 115-65000-30013.
The cost to repair the traffic signal at SR 419 and Edgemon Ave. is available in the
Repair and Maintenance of Traffic Control Devices (104-54620). It is staff's intent to
recoup the repair cost through the City Attorney's office.
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that authorization be granted to "piggy-back off Seminole
County Contract A/B-30210l/GG and enter into a contractual agreement with Chinchor
Electric, Inc for the construction of a traffic signalization system at the intersection of
State Road 434 and SR 419 at a cost of $188, 181.31 plus a 10% contingency payable
from the Road Improvement Fund (115-65000-30013) and the replacement of the mast
arm at the intersection ofSR 419 and Edgemon Ave. at a cost of$22,838.93 plus 10%
contingency payable from Repair and Maintenance of Traffic Control Devices (104-
54620).
IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE:
The scope of work should be completed within 150 days of issuance of the NTP.
