HomeMy WebLinkAbout2000 06 12 Awards & Presentations Item Blank J I Winter Springs Lady Seminoles Take Top Team Tourney WSLL Minor Softball Lady Seminoles have completed a season which garnered them both the District 14 Mid-Season Championship and the post-season District 14 Top Team Tournament Championship. During the regular season, the Lady Seminoles posted only one loss, and were undefeated in all tournament play. Manager Lee Raley, Co-Man~ger Chris Brodie, and Coach Mike Ely led the girls through the season. The team's mastery of fundamental techniques placed them head and shoulders over the competition. Strong points for the team included not only perfect bunts but also the ability to defend the bunt, not often seen in this age grouping (9 and 10-year-old girls). Bill Manooch, president of the WSLL, congratulated the girls on their outstanding season. "This is a terrific team that worked hard all year and deserved to win the championship." He added, " Winter Springs Little League maintains a strong tradition in Girls Softball which the 2000 Minor Seminoles continues." The team recently presented the Mid-Season Championship trophy and both Tournament Winners' Pennants to the Winter Springs City Commission. Team players are: Kami Brodie, Chelsea Caulkins, Meghan Crooks, Caroline Davoli, Lauren Ely, Lauren Frank, Kalyn Franke, Jennifer Grippen, Richelle Raley, Lauren Redfern, and Nicole Tyrell.
