Authorization
REQUEST: Utility Department Informing the City Commission of the Requirement for
an Addendum to the 2006 Annual Drinking Water Report.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to inform the City Commission of the
requirement to mail an Addendum to the Annual Drinking Water Report to our
customers.
CONSIDERA TIONS:
The Environmental Protection Agency requires all water purveyors to complete an
annual drinking report and deliver that report to their customers. The cities Annual
Drinking Water Report was prepared by staff and was mailed to customers on June 13th.
On July 30th we received a notice from the local DEP that our report contained errors.
The range of results for West systems Haloacetic Acids and the TTHM's were incorrect
and the results for Nitrates were omitted from the report. The required addendum has
been prepared and found acceptable by the DEP. To comply with the DEP requirements
the Addendum was put on the Cities web site and copies will also be mailed with the water
bills in the month of August. The inadequate and omitted information are minor omissions
and do not present a health hazard.
