REQUEST: Public Works Department requests that the Commission approve an upgraded
traffic signalization (mast arm) design for use at the intersections of Winter Springs
Boulevard and Tuskawilla Road, and Trotwood Boulevard and Tuskawilla Road.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to present to the Commission the Staff
recommendation for an upgraded traffic signalization design for use at the
intersections of Winter Springs Boulevard and Tuskawilla Road, and
Trotwood Boulevard and Tuskawilla Road. The recommendation for the Mast
• Arm design is the "Nostalgia" motif as approved by the Commission for the
intersection of SR 434 and SR 419.
FINDINGS: 1. It is the desire of the City Commission and the Staff to upgrade traffic
signalization devices.
2. The City Commission has approved the mast arm "Nostalgia" motif (black in
color) to be installed at the intersection of SR 434 and SR 419.
3. The County will utilize the standard mast arm design used throughout the
County for the intersections of Winter Springs Boulevard and Tuskawilla Road,
and Trotwood Boulevard and Tuskawilla Road.
IMPLEMENTATION:
1. Upon Commission approval, the Staff will immediately commence negotiations
with the County to upgrade the traffic signalization from the standard design
used by the County for the devices to be installed at the Tuskawilla Road/Winter
Springs Boulevard and the Tuskawilla Road/Trotwood Boulevard intersections.

2. If the County concurs, and the signalization devices can be upgraded without
delaying the Tuskawilla Road construction schedule, a change order cost will be
solicited from the contractor.
FUNDING: Once the cost of the signalization devices upgrade is identified, the request will be
for the County to fund this through the City's undesignated portion of the 1 -cent
sales tax program.
If the use of the undesignated portion of the 1 -cent sales tax program is not
allowed by the County, the City will not proceed any further.
The estimated cost of the upgrades is forty thousand ( $40,000.00) dollars per
signal.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Staff recommendation is that the City Commission approve the mast arm
• "Nostalgia" motif (black in color) as the standard for traffic signalization devices
for the intersections of Winter Springs Boulevard and Tuskawilla Road, and
Trotwood Boulevard and Tuskawilla Road contingent upon the use of the City's
undesignated portion of the 1 -cent sales tax program.
