REQUEST: Utility Department Informing the City Commission of the Construction of a
Test Well for Assessing Quality of a Future Potable Water Supply Well
PURPOSE: The purpose of this Board item is to inform the City Commission that the
construction test well to ascertain the water quality and quantity of an additional
potable water supply well will begin in the next thirty days.
CONSIDERA TIONS:
The Utility Enterprise Fund capital improvements budget for FY 1999-2000
included the construction of a test well. A test well is a 4" diameter well cased to 100 feet
that is used to determine the potential water quality and quantity of a particular location
prior to the expending funds for a 12" diameter potable water supply well.
The test well will be located at the southwest corner of Tract C of Tuscawilla Unit
8. This tract was acquired by the Enterprise Fund as an asset of the Seminole Utility
Company for a future water supply well. The closest home will be about 150 feet away.
Well construction will take 2 to 4 days and will only be performed during normal working
hours. If the test well location proves successful, the construction of an additional potable
water supply will be proposed in the coming fiscal year.
