REQUEST: The Community Development Department requests the Commission to consider
dates and locations for a series of community meetings.
PURPOSE: Pursuant to direction given by the City Commission, the purpose of this Agenda
Item is for the Commission to consider dates for a series of open community meetings held for the
purpose of interacting with the citizenry in each of the five commission districts. One meeting is to
be held in a meeting facility located in each of the districts.
CHRONOLOGY:
Aprill9, 2007 - The City Commission directed staff to look into possible locations for a series of
community meetings with venues to be located in each ofthe five commission districts.
CONSIDERATIONS:
The City Commission, during a workshop on community outreach, decided to schedule a series of
community meetings to facilitate an exchange of ideas and a discussion of citizen concerns. Staff
has researched potential meeting locations and has attached a listing of these locations by district
along with the seating capacity.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the Commission establish a schedule for the community meetings and direct
staff to set up the meetings, along with the proper advertisement for each meeting.
