REQUEST: Public Works Department Forwarding a Request from the Wildwood HOA
for Additional Streetlighting in Wildwood.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is for the City Commission to consider a request
for the installation of nine additional streetlights in the Wildwood subdivision
needed to meet the lighting standards for public streets at a cost of $5,440.12.
CONSIDERA TIONS:
The Wildwood HOA requested for Florida Power Corporation to review the
adequacy of the current street light layout within the subdivision. FPC's recommendation

is for nine additional streetlights for the public streets in Wildwood which staff concurs
with. The cost for the additional lights is $5,440.12.
The FY199912000 budget for streetlighting is $180,000, which does not contain
sufficient funds for this streetlighting improvement project. A review of the 1 st Quarter
unaudited expenditures indicates expenses of about 26% which would project to an
overrun for this line code of approximately $5,000.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Appropriate $10,000 from General Fund Reserves to line code 4410-54312
Utility Services - Streetlighting and complete the project this year.
2. Postpone the project until the FY 2000/2001 budget.

RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission appropriate $110,000 from General
Fund Reserves to line code 4410-54312 Utility Services - StreetIighting and complete the
project this year.
ATTACHMENTS:
1. Florida Power Corporation recommendation
FUNDING:
Upon approval of the additional appropriation, funds will be spent within 30 days.
