MGR /#;DEPT /~ Authorization REQUEST: Public Works Department Informing the City Commission on Seminole County's plans for Citrus Road PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to provide the City Commission a status update on Seminole County's plans for Citrus Road CONSIDERATIONS: . At the March 12,2007 City Commission meeting, the Commission directed Staff to contact Seminole County regarding the possible extension of Citrus Road west to Tuskawilla Road to relieve traffic on Dyson Drive. . Citrus Road is a Seminole County road with a north-south roadway segment from Shetland A venue south to Red Bug Lake Road, and a short east-west segment from Shetland Avenue west to a private subdivision entrance. The Citrus Road right-of-way is unimproved from the subdivision entrance west to Tuskawilla Road, a distance of approximately one mile. . Seminole County has no plans to extend Citrus Road west to Tuskawilla Road. The County's Comprehensive Plan currently shows the unimproved right-of-way from Tuskawilla Road to Shetland Avenue as the Citrus Trail (see Exhibit A). . According to Seminole County's Trails & Greenways office, the County has no plans to build the Citrus Trail at this time. The project is not funded and it is low on the County's priority list. The Citrus Trail may be removed entirely from the project list at some point. . Dyson Drive is currently operating at an acceptable level of service with a daily traffic volume of approximately 1,200 vehicles per day. A majority of the Dyson Drive residents have recently indicated by straw ballot and testimony at City Commission meetings that there is not a traffic problem on Dyson Drive that needs to be addressed.
