Authorization ITEM 401 REQUEST: City Manager requesting the Commission approve renewal of the City Physician Contract for a three year period. PURPOSE: This agenda item is needed to obtain Commission approval of renewal of the City's current contract with the City Physician for a three year period. CONSIDERATIONS: The City's current contract with its City Physician, Newman Family Medicine, expires on January 13, 2007. Newman Family Medicine provides pre-employment physical examinations for prospective employees and annual physical examinations for certain Police, Fire, Public Works, Utilities, and Parks & Recreation employees. The current contract includes a provision to renew the contract for three years upon mutual agreement of both parties. Newman Family Medicine has indicated its desire to exercise this renewal option. Staff is satisfied with the service of Newman Family Medicine and is also agreeable to renewal of the contract. The current contract, as well as the renewal if approved, provides the option for Newman Family Medicine to implement price increases up to 5% annually. Newman Family Medicine has submitted its fee schedule for 2007, the first year of the proposed renewal, which reflects no increase in fees over 2006. Newman Family Medicine also provides similar physician services to Seminole County, Altamonte Springs, Longwood and Casselberry. Newman Family Medicine provides the City of Winter Springs with fee rates comparable to each of these other entities. FUNDING: Funding provided for in the City's FY 2007 budget. There is no increase in fees for FY 2007. Staff anticipates no additional funding requirements over the budgeted amount for this service for FY 2007. RECOMMENDATION: The City Manager recommends the Commission approve the renewal of the contract with Newman Family Medicine for City Physician services for a three year term and authorize the City Manager to execute said renewal.
