The revised rate represents an increase of $ .11 from the previous rate of $12.64, which became effective on January 1,2008. PURPOSE: This agenda item is needed for the City Commission to approve a revision of the City Standard Streetlight Rate for one (1) City Standard Concrete Streetlight Pole with one (1) lOOw Cobra Light Fixture. CONSIDERATIONS: On April 13, 1998, the City Commission adopted the City Standard Streetlight consisting of one (1) non-decorative concrete pole attached to one (1) basic lOOw cobra fixture. This streetlight configuration is provided as a minimum lighting standard along public roadways throughout the City of Winter Springs. Based upon Progress Energy rates approved by the Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC), and published in the Progress Energy Rate Schedule (RS 1) effective August 1, 2008, the City standard streetlight rate should be adjusted from $12.64 to $12.75 per month to reflect an increase in fuel and energy costs. 082508_ COMM_ CONSENT _20 l_Streetlighting_Base _Rate FUNDING: Funding for the City standard streetlighting will continue to come from the Urban Beautification Streetlighting Line Code (1526-54312). RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Commission approve the August 1, 2008 Revised City Standard Streetlight Rate of $12.75 per month; an increase of $ .11 per street light as compared to the current rate of$12.64 per month. IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE: The Progress Energy streetlight price revision became effective on August 1, 2008; therefore, the new cost would be retro-active to the effective date upon Commission approval.
