LallathinCOMMISSION AGENDA ITEM 202 January 14, 2008 Meeting REQUEST: Consent X Informational Public Hearing Regular MGR. / pt. Authorization The Community Development Department and the Fire Department are requesting authorization from the City Commission for a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $1,950 for the purchase of signage installed on Fire Station 24 in memory of Chief Timothy J. Lallathin. PURPOSE: The purpose of this Agenda Item is to obtain Commission approval for a supplemental appropriation from the General Fund to pay for the purchase and installation of lettering necessary for dedicating the Fire Station 24 Facility in memory of Chief Timothy J. Lallathin. CONSIDERATIONS: On June 11, 2007 at a regular meeting, the City Commission approved having memorial plantings installed and dedicated to Fire Chief Timothy J. Lallathin at Central Winds Park. In addition to memorial plantings, plans were also made for the installation of signage on the front of Fire Station 24, dedicating the station to the memory of Chief Lallathin and his service to the City. Lettering for the Memorial Fire Station reads as follows: Timothy J. Lallathin Memorial Fire Station January 14, 2008 CONSENT ITEM 202 Page 2 Due to the uncertainty of when a Memorial Dedication Ceremony would take place, Staff ordered the signage to be installed as soon as possible in anticipation of the upcoming event. The project was completed in early November 2007. FUNDING: Funding for signage installed dedicating Fire Station 24 to the memory of Chief Timothy J. Lallathin will come from the General Fund in the amount of $1,950. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Commission approve a supplemental appropriation from the General Fund for signage installed dedicating Fire Station 24 to the memory of Chief Timothy J. Lallathin in the amount of $1,950. COMMISSION ACTION:
