Authorization REQUEST: The Parks and Recreation Department wishes to inform the City Commission regarding recommended changes to the schedule of fees for various Parks and Recreation facility uses. PURPOSE: The purpose of this item is to inform the City Commission regarding changes to the schedule of fees for various Parks and Recreation facility uses which staff will bring back as a Resolution at the January 25, 2010 meeting. CONSIDERATIONS: The past 2 years, Parks and Recreation has recommended and the City Commission approved increases to all Parks and Recreation fees. All fees are in line with other government agencies. Due to the current economic climate Parks and Recreation is not recommending any increases in fees. Parks and Recreation wishes to make changes in the fee schedule based on resident's suggestions. Senior Center We currently have a 1 calendar year membership fee, January 1 to December 31. This fee is not reduced or pro -rated for those who sign up in October, November, and December. Staff is recommending a change in the resolution for those who sign up in October, November, or December to pay half of the current fee. The revenue should remain about the same due to more Senior and Therapy Pool signups the last 3 months. Agenda Item Informational 101 December 14, 2009 Page 2 Staff is also recommending a reduction in the Senior Center /Therapy Pool Guest Fee to $5.00 instead of $10.00. Staff is recommending a reduction in the Seasonal Membership Fee for the Splash Playgrounds for those who sign up in the month of October (the last month of the season) to half of the current fee. Also, we received many requests for a birthday party/guest rate. Staff recommends a fee of $5.00 per person which is a reduction of the current fee of $10.00 per person or per 1" Family Member and $5.00 for additional family members (up to $30.00). This fee however is only good for the party or guest (1 time visit).
