CONSIDERATIONS: This agenda item is needed to approve the reclaimed water storage tank on City property adjacent to the Oak Forest spray fields. The City Commission voted on January 26, 2009 to not have the reclaimed water storage tank at the Central Winds Park surface water augmentation treatment facility. Instead, the remote location for the storage tank was proposed to be at the Oak Forest spray fields to minimize the structures at Central Winds Park. We have more specifically identified the proposed location and are requesting the Commission approve the proposed location before finalizing the design. The proposed location, mostly undergrowth and scrub trees, is west of the power easement and approximately 350 feet from the nearest home in Oak Forest. The tree buffer east of the power easement will remain unchanged and we plan on leaving an additional 50' buffer of the existing vegetation on the west side of the power easement. The tank will hold 3 million gallons and has a side wall height of 35 feet with the dome top at about 45 feet above grade. The proposed reclaimed storage and pumping generate minimal noise and no odor. The separation distances between pumping/storage and adjacent residential is similar at the East plant (Fox Glen) and West plant (unincorporated area). 082409 COMM Regular_602_Reclaimed_Water Augmentation_Oak_Forest_Storage August 24, 2009 Regular Agenda Item 602 Page 2 ?• ? ? ,?? `' .p..- . The design proposal by CPH Engineers was previously approved by the Commission on March 9, 2009. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Commission approve the proposed reclaimed water tank location adjacent to the Oak Forest spray fields.
