PURPOSE: The purpose of this agenda item is to request authorization to execute Amendment #1 to the contractual agreement with Pegasus Engineering for professional engineering services for roadway improvements on S.R. 419 and Wade Street in the amount of $23,859.29. CONSIDERATIONS: • At the June 9, 2008 City Commission meeting, the Commission provided authorization to enter into a contractual agreement with Pegasus Engineering to provide professional engineering services for roadway improvements to Wade Street and S.R. 419 at a cost of $88,934, piggybacking off Pegasus Engineering's Continuing Consulting Contract for Professional Engineering Services with the City of Winter Garden. • The planned improvements for this project are as follows (see Attachment 1): o Wade Street reconstruction from S.R. 419 to Old Sanford-Oviedo Road o Addition of a southbound right-turn lane from Wade Street onto S.R. 419 o Addition of an eastbound and westbound left-turn deceleration lanes from S.R. 419 onto Wade Street o Addition of a right-turn deceleration lane on S.R. 419 westbound onto Wade Street o Addition of a right-turn deceleration lane on S.R. 419 eastbound onto Sherry Avenue • Amendment #1 is necessary due to the following design scope changes: o Revisions to the construction plans to provide bike lanes through the right-turn deceleration lanes, which was a change in FDOT design criteria implemented after the design was in progress. June 8, 2009 Agenda Item #201 Page 2 of 2 o The splitting of one project into three separate projects (Federal, State, and City) due to the availability of federal funding of up to $534,000 for construction of the S.R. 419 improvements under the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The three projects and funding sources are identified on Attachment 1. FUNDING: The $23,859.29 for roadway design services is requested to be funded by the Road Improvement Fund, line code #115-65000-30133. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the City Commission authorize execution of Amendment #1 to the contractual agreement with Pegasus Engineering for professional engineering services for roadway improvements on S.R. 419 and Wade Street in the amount of $23,859.29.
