HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009 05 26 Consent 200 Approval for Expenditure of Funds to Purchase Two Replacement VehiclesCOMMISSION AGENDA Special Meeting CONSENT X INFORMATIONAL PUBLIC HEARING REGULAR Mav 26.2009 Meeting MGR /DEPT ~~~ Authorization REQUEST: Police Department requesting Commission approval for expenditure of funds to purchase two replacement vehicles for the Police Department out of the Supplemental Appropriation General Fund Reserve Funds. PURPOSE: This agenda item is needed to acquire Commission approval to purchase two replacement vehicles from the Supplemental Appropriation General Fund Reserve Funds. CONSIDERATIONS: The Police Department recently lost the use of two patrol vehicles. The first vehicle is a 2003 Chevrolet Impala with 77,000 miles that is in need of an engine replacement that exceeds the value of the vehicle. The cost to replace the engine is $4,754.00. This vehicle is also scheduled for replacement next budget year. The second vehicle is a 2007 Chevrolet Impala that was involved in a vehicle crash. The cities insurance has considered this vehicle a total loss. The City is receiving a net claim of $12,100.00 In order to get the best return on investment the police department is recommending using the $12,100.00 from the insurance claim and $23,168.00 from General Fund Reserve Funds to purchase the two replacement vehicles. FUNDING: The source of funds will come from the Supplemental Appropriation General Fund Reserve Funds. The purchase price for the two vehicles is $35,268.00. Applying the $12,100.00 for the loss vehicle makes a final cost of $23,168.00 for both vehicles. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the supplemental appropriation of funds from the General Fund Reserve and purchase the vehicles through the Florida Sheriffs Bid process.. IMPLEMENTATION SCHEDULE: Immediately upon approval by Commission. COMMISSION ACTION:
