HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972 07 31 City Council Workshop MinutesWORKSHOP SESSION CITY COUNCIL CITY OF WINTER SPRINGS JULY 31, 1972 The Workshop Session of the City Council of the City of Winter Springs, Florida was called to order at. 7:3 3 Yor Granville Brown. A pledge of allegiance to the flag was led by Councilman Fox. Roll Call: Councilmen: Mayor Granville Broom, present James Sasser, present Attorney,Thomas Freeman, present Herbert Fox, present Vice -Mayor Charles Rowell, present Victor Miller, present Troy Piland, present In discussion of a hospitalization plan for city employees, a suggestion was made to pay the premium for life insurance and medical for employees only. This is to be discussed at the next regular session. Mr. Freeman read Resolution No. 98 which supports Senator Gurney's amendment. Zoning Board Recommendations: 1. Mr. Morton Silver's request for annexation and R-3 zoning. The Board recommended Council approve this annexation and R-3 zoning as submitted. Council agreed that the County Planner, David Farr, should be contacted. 2. R-1 Zoning to R-lA zoning classification: The Board recommends Council have R-1 zoning changed to R-lA on all future developments other than what has been engineered R-1. Council agreed no more R-1 zoning on all future develop- ments, other than what has been engineered R-1. 3. Hacienda Village plot plan changes. The Board recommends Council approve the plot plan changes of Hacienda Village as submitted. Council showed their approval. 4. Hacienda Village Buffer Zone. The Board recommends Council approve the Buffer Zone of Hacienda Village as submitted. Council showed their approval. 5. Florida Land Co. -North Orlando Terraces. The Board recommends Council approve the request for zoning change from R-1 to R-lAA on residential lots east of Edgemon. This item was tabled by Council until further notice. 6. Winter Springs Unit IV Lighting. The Board recommends Council approve Winter Springs Unit IV Lighting as submitted. Council showed approval. 7. The two bridges over Highlands @reek. The Board recommends Council approve plans for the two bridges over Highlands Creek as submitted. Council showed their approval. Council gave Mayor Brown authority to spend $1,000 out of the Road & Bridge Fund for repairs for Fisher Road. July 31, 1972 Page 2 Mayor Brown read the letter from Mr. Yutzy, a resident, thanking the Council for the spraying which was done July 27th. Codification of all City Ordinances was discussed. Cost of this would be approximately $4,000. Councilman Rowell withdrew his verbal resignation. Councilman Piland read the letter of resignation of Patrolman William C. Morris. Auxiliary Policeman, Gilbert Berg, read his letter of resignation. Auxiliary Policeman, Harry Brown, also read his letter of resignation. Both gentlemen claimed certain allegations have been made, which are to be investigated by the Police Commissioner. The meeting was adjourned at 9:35 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Mary T.
