The Police Department;
A petition was presented by Councilman Piland with 433 names.
Because of its size, it is fi'.ed in the Police Department folder.
A copy of the letter from Mr. Ritch, the petition heading and the
complaint from Mrs. Sellers is attached.
The petition requests the policemen live in the Village. To be a
pplice officer you have to have a compliance certificate, which means
you have to be an experienced officer or have better than 260 hours
of police instruction and a certificate saying so. It is very
difficult to find someone living in the Village that meets those
requirements.
After much discussion, Mayor Brown appointed the entire Council to
come up with an answer to this petition and letter from Mrs. Sellers
on the 17th of January 1972*
