HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971 07 26 Village Council Workshop Minutesr S WORKSHOP SESSION VILLAGE COUNCIL VILLAGE OF NORTH ORLANDO JULY 26, 1971 The Workshop Session of the Village Council of the Village of North Orlando, Florida was called to order by Mayor Brown at 7:35 P.M. A Pledge of allegiance to the flag was led by Mayor Brown. Councilmen: Roll Call: Troy Piland, present Mayor Granville Brown, present Herbert Fox, present Vice Mayor, Charles Rowell, present Charles Kelley, present Attorney, Thomas Freeman, not present W. R. Hurt, not present Zoning Board Members present: Frank Sutera Jim Palmer The Workshop Session was called to discuss with Mr. Bill Goodman, developer of Winter Springs Housing Development, his request for annexation into the Village of North Orlando. There are approximately 3500 acres involved, and condominiums, homes, recreational facilities and a small business area are to be built. Mr. Goodman stated that he will be filing a petition for annexation Into the Village and the only thing that he is asking for would be that he get the zoning per his land use plan and that the two plats be approved. He would like a franchise for water and sewer if an �eositionetoeal bringuld intoetherVillage.what.he cond he is in a considers and hopes to be one of the finest developments in central Florida. The question was raised. on why Seminole County Commissioners turned him down, and Mr. Goodman said because of Mr. Ken Plante t s concern of a housing development close to his rendering plant. Mr. Goodman t s property line is 1.6 miles from the rendering plant. In discussion with Mr. Reed. of Florida Land Company of water and sewer facilities, Mr. Reed assured Mr. Goodman that there would be no problem in working out an equitable deal; if nothing could be worked out Florida Land Company would have no objections to another franchise. The price range of the homes in the second and third units would run from $45,000.00 to $90,000.00. Mr. Goodman is to submit a request for annexation defining the legal limits to be presented at our next meeting. Allen Cronk, Fire Chief, discussed a could be purchased for $400.00. Third Street & Fairfax Ivenue is unable to put houses on the last two lots due to the poor drainage. He would like permission to put a grass swail temporarily to allow the land to dry up. Permission was granted for Mr. Clark to do this on a temporary basis for ninety days. Mr. Conklin will be sending in his recommendations soon on Western Land' s Trailer Park, Hacienda Village. A motion was made by Councilman Kelley to adjourn the meeting at 9:47 p.m. Seconded by Councilman Piland. Motion carried. Respectfully submitted, Mary T.
