HomeMy WebLinkAbout1971 04 19 Village Council Regular MinutesREGULAR MEETING VILLAGE COUNCIL VILLAGE OF NORTH ORLANDO APRIL 19, 1971 The Regular Session of the Village Council of the Tillage of North Orlando, Florida was called to order by Mayor Brown at 7:35 P.M. A pledge of allegiance to the flag was led by Councilman Kelley. Roll Call: Councilmen: Mayor, Granville Brawn, present Troy Piland, present Vice -Mayor, Charles Rowell, present W. R. Hurt, present Attorney Thomas Freeman, present Charles Kelley, present Herbert Fox, present Approval of Minutes: A motion was made by Councilman Charles Rowell to insert in the minutes of the Reorganizational Meeting of April 5, 1971, 'the Council accepts with regrets the resignation of Pasquale DelVillaggio". Seconded by Councilman W. R. Hurt. Discussion. Motion Carries. A motion was made by Councilman Rowell to accept the minutes as stated of the Regular Meeting of ,April 5, 1971- Seconded by Councilman Kelley. Discussion. Motion carries. A motion was made by Councilman Fox to pay the bills. Seconded by Councilman Hurt. Discussion. Motion carries. Page �12 1 cont. Three letters were read byr. owe-11 -fr—om Chief of Police, Walter Bachelor, appointing David G. Tilson as Chief Investigator, Raymond G. Hendrick as Special Investigator, and a request for equipment which is to be discussed at our Workshop Meeting of April 26. A letter was read by Mr. Rowell from Village to take possession and assume fighting equipment of the Department. Workshop Meeting of April 26. 5 Minute Recess. the Fire Department requesting the responsiblity for all fire This is to be discussed at our Mr. Ken Dyar and Mr. Stafford of Florida Power Corp. were introduced, and the new franchise was discussed. . A motion was made by Mr. Rowell that we put Ordinance 57 on the agenda. Seconded by Councilman Hurt. Discussion. Motion carries. The first reading of Ordinance 57 was read by Mr. Freeman. Ordinance 57 is a new ordinance from Florida Power Corp. to negotiate the franchise. A motion was made by Mr. Rowell to approve Ordinance S7 on the first reading. Seconded by Mr. Hurt. Discussion. Motion carries. Mayyo_r_t s Report, Mayor Brown .reporting: The Village unds have been transferred to the 1st National Bank of Maitland. The flags were flown at half-mast on April 9, 1971 in honor of our first elected Mayor, George Fuller. Flags were also flowb'e at half-mast in Longwood, Altamonte & Casselberry, and we take this opportunity to thank Mayor Swofford, Mayor Blow and Mayor Kalinosky. Some action should be taken on several bills that are now in the Legislature. Also attended the meeting of the S. Seminole Chamber of Commerce in regard to the I-4 interchange in Maitland. Attended Council Meetings in Casselberry and Altamonte Springs. Resolution #88 asking for clemency for Lt. Calley has been drawn up. A motion was made by Councilman Rowell to place Ordinance 58 on the agenda. Seconded by Councilman Fox. Discussion. Motion carries. The first reading of Ordinance #58 was read by Attorney Thomas Freeman. This ordinance is to reimburse the Mayor and Councilmen for expenses incurred as councilmen and Mayor. A motion was made by Councilman Hurt to accept Ordinance 58 on the first reading. Seconded by Councilman Kelley. Discussion. Motion carries. A motion was made by Councilman Piland to table Item 13, discussion of reviewing occupational license fees. Seconded by Councilman Kelley. Discussion. Motion carries.
